Its been pretty cloud-ish here in southern Maine for the past half a fortnight, and some rainy, too. Today the clouds broke and we've a nice warm day on our hands.
Just got a call from the Cumberland County Master Gardeners that I won a raffle prize! (\o/) They were having a plant sale this morning at the Baron Center on Brighton Ave in Portland and I splurged on a few raffle tickets. Glad to have been drawn for the worm composter bin and accessories. Missed out on the truck load of sheep manure :( Maybe better luck next time :)
A few weeks ago I had given a few talks at Maine Medical Center on 'Container Gardening' and 'Awakening Your Garden'. I had brought in a couple of bags of leaf "mold" to show how fungii develop soil tilth even in clay soil. As those in attendance handled the samples with great interest I thought; Its nice to hang around folks with whom I can share the dirt, and it brings them joy.
It was that way this morning with the Master Gardeners: quite a good bunch of lovely folks.
